Our amazing journey has come to an end. Yesterday I kept thinking don’t mess up the last 70 miles ๐ณ! There were a lot of hills (3.6kft) and some narrow patches (no shoulder), but arrived safely and plenty tired, an exhilarating tired๐๐!!
Still happily married after another 5 weeks together in the Tin Can! The Tin Can isn’t doing so well as it broke down 3 miles from our B&B. The Innkeeper came and picked Amy up ,as I rode in. The Tin Can was towed to Bangor to be fixed?! We hope to be reunited with the TC on Tuesday and ready to drive home.
Our dear friends Bill and Marilyn flew up to surprise us and celebrate at the finish line! A great way to end with a custom poster from a group of our good friends!
Woke up this morning and didn’t have to jump out of bed to ride….nice! We have had a great day exploring Bar Harbor, hiking and sharing stories with our dear friends!
Would you believe it rained today and the wind is howling. Timing is everything ๐! We explored Acadia National Park (picture of thunder hole) and ate more lobsters and fresh clams!!
Beautiful place to celebrate ๐ with friends. Amy and I both feel incredibly blessed with so many of you sending congratulations and gracious comments!! Your prayers, support, encouragement has been a constant source of humor, energy and fuel for us each day! Thank you for every comment, generous donation , positive thought and concern. We are also very thankful for the opportunity to drop in and meet so many Challenged Athletes along the way. We will miss much from this trek but we have been indeliably impacted by the experience and wouldn’t trade it for anything!
As many of my cycling friends pedal down the California coast this week in the MDC (ride from SF to SD), I wish them safe passage and the wind at their backs.
Six years ago my dear friend Duane Roth and the indefatigable Bill Walton convinced me to join the CAF 625 mile ride down the coast because as Bill emphatically said ” it will change your life”! Indeed it has changed our lives and we are blessed and forever grateful to Bill and Duane and all of you!! THANK YOU!๐๐
Congratulations Bill & Amy. An amazing journey for a great cause and we enjoyed the many posts. Travel safe back home!

Wow, oh, wow!
Amazing, incredible, etc., etc., etc. (fill in more adjectives and superlatives here).
One of the great individual and team achievements for you both. Healthy. Still married (big assumption??? Well, let’s move on). You seem to still be talking to each other and eating at the same table. Check those boxes.
I guess the other good news is you were too busy riding to take 1000s of photos that we don’t have to sit through back in San Diego. Roads, trees, people at B&B’s, food, beds, bikes, something about a tin can….yep, we get it. Saw it on the blog.

Jim so kind of you to take time to send another note and congratulations! Yes still together and still seem to like each other (so she says ๐ณ). With the Tin Can maladies hoping that it stays that way๐ฌ
Thinking about you both and prayers are with you!!
I think you were the one who coached me on not too many scenery shots, probably failed but it was so damn pretty and you see so much more at 15mph. ( at least we spared everyone the RV park pictures!)
Headed on the long drive home back across america if the Tin Can is willing!!

Bill,
Congratulations on making it across the country. It is really impressive to be able to ride your bike from coast to coast, especially considering it was just a few years ago that you had never been on a bike. Was great hearing about your journey and all the challenged athletes, they have a lot more guts and heart then I do to say the least.
Safe travels back home.
